Xacom was engaged to provide Planning and Scheduling development at Fairport Engineering for their Hinkley Point C contract. Fairport Engineering were selected to design and Manage the construction of a solution to transfer and house sand and aggregate for the Hinkley Point C concrete foundation mix.

The solution was split into two main parts:

  • Ground storage system where sand and aggregate is transferred from a ship to shore into a ground storage system consisting of 11 separate pens.

  • Storage silo where the Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag is delivered by road tanker and pneumatically conveyed into the silo. The Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag is then pumped to 4 concrete batching plants.

Xacom provided the following services:

  • Development of the Primavera P6 schedule in conjunction with the Engineering team

  • Alignment of the schedule to NEC 3 scheduling requirements

  • Incorporation of Compensation Events

  • Maintenance of the programme baseline

  • Forecast and Critical Path Analysis and reporting
